Why Is Mommy Always In The Bathroom?

I remember a long time ago when the bathroom used to be a place to only shower and use the toilet. Not at more. All sorts of business takes place in the bathroom now. Ever since my children began walking and screaming talking I seem to have less and less space in my own home to do things for myself. Phone calls, writing, reading, etc. are now all done in the bathroom. It has become my escape room.

Now, before you get all judgey on me, think about your house for a minute. You know you have an escape room. A room you can go to, probably with a lock, so you can get at least two minutes to yourself. Tell the truth, it's a bathroom, isn't it?

Why must we hide ourselves in a room with a stinky toilet?! I don't care how clean it is, it's still gross and smells awful.

We have an entire house. That we pay a lot of money for, damnit. If we need to make a phone call, our little 3 and 4 year old children are to sit quietly and patiently wait until with are done!

Are you laughing yet?

Fellow mommies do not be ashamed of hiding in your escape room for a minute or so. We all do it. And anyone who says they don't is obviously amazing completely crazy.

So, where's your escape room?

  1. Ha! I'm not even a mom, but sometimes I feel like the only place I get some privacy is the bathroom. I savor baths for that reason!

    1. Long baths are the best! I feel more relaxed just thinking about it.

  2. Ha! My husband thinks I'm in the bathroom right now. He'll probably ask me if I'm alright when I emerge. In fact, I'd be commenting here from the bathroom if my phone actually let me comment! Too funny.

  3. I wouldn't say I purposefully go into the bathroom to escape, but I do find myself spending longer amounts of time in there. It's so quiet!

    1. That's true, too. Sometimes I will go into the bathroom to get something and wind up staying in there way too long because I start planning out my day or thinking about what needs to be done.

  4. My escape room is also the bathroom, I find if I am in the bathroom most of the household tends to leave me alone for at least a couple of minutes. I am new to your blog and look forward to reading more!

  6. Oh my goodness I am NOT the only one!!!!! LOL I laughed the whole time I was reading. I have all boys left at home and they always ask what could I possibly do in the bathroom so much! Hmmm....I have taken a blanket and pillow, curled up and finished reading my favorite book, written several bogs posts, painted my nails, actually taken a nap (didn't mean to do that one) planned family trips...I could keep going. Cheers to us moms and our bathrooms! :)
